Football
Gene Chizik was hired as the new Cyclone football coach last November. He is hoping to bring the excitement back to Iowa State football after a disappointing 4-8 campaign for the Cyclones in 2006. Chizik has the reputation of being one of the top defensive minds in the game and the stats seem to back it up. Over the last seven years Gene spent time as the defensive coordinator at Central Florida, Auburn and Texas; his defenses rated in the top 30 every year.
Cyclone Fans Step Up

When Jamie Pollard hired Gene Chizik, he sent a message to Cyclone fans that he wanted a winning football program at Iowa State and he was willing to stick his neck out to make it happen. It was now in the fans hands to show how bad they wanted a winner. The fans have responded, BIG TIME. Season ticket sales are up 6,000 for a team that won four games last year. It is now up to the football team to continue this momentum by winning games this fall.
Be Loud and Proud

So you bought your season ticket, what else can you do to help the team? Be a fan. Have fun. Be loud. Gene Chizik said he wants the stadium to be “juiced up” on game days. He wants Jack Trice to be the loudest stadium in the Big 12. So when the person behind you tells you to sit down, tell him/her that Coach Chizik asked you to stand.
Stand up. Clap your hands. Wave your towel. Yell like hell. Paint your face. Dress up like a mustard bottle. Chant ISU-ISU! Whatever you do let your presence be known. Chikiz is “so stinking fired up”, how fired up are you?
